Terryonte Talks Murray State
Sunday night ended the second LIVE period of recruiting. As soon as the session ended college coaches swiftly called/texted/emailed their top 2017 targets.
Hours after his final game of the weekend, Class of 2017 guard Terryonte Thomas (MS) got three quick contacts.
“Murray State, North Florida, and Richmond,” shared Thomas Sunday night with OVCHoops.com.
He has the Racers in his top schools.
“I think they are a pretty good program that’s headed in right direction,” said Thomas. “They let their guards play and that’s my style of play.”
The tall Mississippian, Thomas is no stranger to college attention.
Saturday VCU, South Alabama, Southern Miss, and NAU coaches evaluated him.
Standing 6-foot-4, Thomas began as a wing, but quickly proved he can handle the ball. There are a few holes in his game, namely outside shooting, but strengths include strength, patience, and finishing in traffic.
Murray State has been on Thomas for more than a year. In fact, Head Coach Matt McMahon began recruiting him as Assistant Coach McMahon under Steve Prohm. How interesting that the recruitment could come down to an old-fashioned family feud.
When Coach Prohm arrived at Iowa State he quickly extended a Big 12 offer to Terryonte. Iowa State, Murray State, Southern Miss, and VCU are the most prominent programs to have offered. South Alabama is strong with Thomas too.
Thomas’ recruitment will probably take a couple more twists and turns, but MSU is very much in play entering May.
