RedHawks Put the Cuffs on Cuffee
Early Thursday morning Class of 2017 Georgian guard Khalil Cuffee (Langston Hughes HS) verbally committed to Southeast Missouri State.
Cuffee was observed and evaluated numerous times by local scouts for HoopSeen. They do a great job on Georgia kids. Also, Courtside Films assembled a highlight montage of Khalil Cuffee in Vegas (July 2016).
Kennesaw State offered recently. Cuffee is not a shooter. He is a powerful, assertive slasher capable of creative havoc in the lane. He projects as a great OVC defender with the ability to get to the rim.
According to an AAU coach who competed against Khalil, “That is a pretty high level for him.”
Cuffee can play either wing, but probably works better as a small three. With his power and hunger for the rebounds, look for him to be the secondary wing scorer on the floor.
“He has length and wily,” said opposing AAU coach. “Not a bad kid. Just needs the work. A redshirt will probably help him.”
Southeast Missouri now has one verbal commitment in the 2017 class. Cuffee spearheads the class and will likely be joined by three or four others. Who knows how many humans are RickRayed out of the program by this time next year?
Turnover is high and honestly Rick Ray might be out of a job before Cuffee even enrolls. We shall see. Still, this represents a positive gain for the program approaching the Early Signing Period (November).
