Redhawks Pursuing Forward
Wednesday evening Alou Dillon (WI) reported fresh interest from an OVC school, Southeast Missouri.
Air Force, American, Southeast Missouri, and Drake are all expressing new interest in Dillon. The small forward teeters between mid-major and low-major skills in the body of a high-major hooper.
Dillon can shoot mid-range shots effectively. He rebounds very well for a small forward and defends proudly. The one shortcoming, at this stage, is lateral mobility. He moves like a frontcourt player, which limits his versatility as a college defender.
The shooting touch and willingness to work suggest Dillon could attract a few high major offers by this time next year. A lot can happen in a year.
Playground Elite is the premiere AAU program in Wisconsin. Typically the OVC coaches do not venture up that far north for prospects. Perhaps Southeast Missouri Assistant Coach Chris Moore is tapping into his strong Midwestern ties, the ones he cultivated as an Assistant Coach at Wright State (Dayton, Ohio).
In July, Dillon early offers from Sam Houston State and Milwaukee. Both schools extended their offers July 11th, 2015.
Regardless Dillon is that rare 6’7″ combo forward that might just fall to OVC-level recruiting. Reaching out to him now is a savvy move by the Southeast Missouri staff.
