Racers Recruiter Evaluates Alabama Hoopers
Racers Assistant Coach James Kane spent Friday night in Benton, Kentucky. He was on hand for the Marshall County Hoopfest, an exceptional event each fall.
Though he stayed the whole night, his focus was University Heights (KY) versus Jemison High (Alabama). U-Heights has, at least, two college players in 2017 PG Tray Hollowell and 2019 G KyKy Tandy.
Earlier this year Hollowell had an EKU offer. This offer is no longer actionable though.
Hollowell probably doesn’t get a Murray State offer, but Tandy would be a great target for the staff. He scored 19 points (7-18 FG) and collected four rebounds. Tandy needs to decide what he does best, because currently he is a little disheveled offensively. Still, his physical gifts and raw skills are undeniable.
The Jemison team is so physical and active, it is difficult to decipher who projects higher than the rest. Obviously John Petty Jr. is the diamond ring. After Petty Jr. (Bama signed), there are numerous college prospects.
Devonte Lanier scored 18 points with 4 rebounds. He is an unsigned senior forward at 6-foot-7. Senior guard Brandon McCarver dumped in 16 points (7-10 FG). If you are looking younger, the 2019 Brandon Nicholas started and gave 11 points and 4 assists to the win. He also coughed up five turnovers.
Other college coaches in the building included: Texas A&M HC Billy Kennedy, Centre College Assistant Coach.
The event continues tomorrow.
