Murray State Racers 2016-2017 Schedule
This afternoon the Murray State Racers released their complete 2016-2017 regular season schedule.
Featured contests include a home opener against Illinois State, road matches at Ole Miss, Evansville, and Middle Tennessee.
Just before Thanksgiving week, MSU enters a sneaky-tough tournament in Ohio. The BGSU Bill Frack Tournament brings together , Murray State, UMKC, Green Bay, and Bowling Green for a round-robin affair. Green Bay can be very tough and UMKC is building a deep program under Kareem Richardson.
Of course, the Racers will dig in for OVC-play New Year’s Eve Day as Tennessee State enters the boiling CFSB Center. Opening 1-0 in conference is imperative, as the Racers hit the road for four straight in the new year (@Jax State, @Tennessee Tech, @Eastern Illinois, @SIUE).
By playing the so many early OVC road games, the Murray State Racers enjoy two three-game homestands in January/February.
“We’re excited to announce another challenging schedule for the upcoming season,” Coach McMahon said. “Our team will get the opportunity to compete against some outstanding programs that will prepare us for OVC play. I’m thrilled we’ll be playing in front of our home crowd on three of the first four weekends of the season beginning with Illinois State on opening night. And this year’s schedule also features short road trips for our great fans to travel and watch us play.”
Overall the schedule is more difficult than most OVC teams are willing to endure. Challenging battles against Wright State, Green Bay, Illinois State and South Dakota State are taxing mid-major wars for an accomplished Murray State program.
