Hamlet Boasts UT Martin Offer

Motlow College freshman Javion Hamlet (Memphis, TN) earned his UT Martin offer in December.  Morgan State offered him in February.

“I am eligible to leave,” shared Hamlet Monday afternoon to OVCHoops.

The question becomes, will he?

Hamlet has the two offers and a decent connection to UT Martin.  He has not set any visits and is still considering options.

“I’m not sure,” said Hamlet.  “It depends on what I get after the national tournament.

Javion Hamlet is a freshman, just a year removed from Whitehaven High School where he teamed with current UT Martin freshman Mike Fofana.  The athletes played for Whitehaven Head Coach Faragi Phillips in 2015-2016.  Hamlet actually grew up under Coach Phillips, playing as a sixth and seventh grader under the accomplished coach.

The first year of college basketball for Hamlet has been a wildly successful one.

He recorded 15.7 ppg for a team that advanced to the NJCAA Tournament.  Beyond scoring the basketball, Hamlet provides for teammates.  The freshman guard leads the JC nation with 8.8 apg.  Hamlet’s wonderful passing accounted for a startling 286 assists in 33 games.

Hamlet mentioned there is another OVC team in sporadic contact.

“Murray State hit(s) me up from time to time, but they never offered,” shared Hamlet.  The Racers appear to have a full backcourt next fall including three OVC-ready point guards (Stark, Hawkins, Morant).

Full statistics on Hamlet are available.  He earned Al-TCCAA First Team and Motlow State Head Coach J.T. Burton earned Coach of the Year.
