CBI Penetration

Perennially tabbed as a “one-bid league”, the Ohio Valley Conference teams are annually met with an assortment of post-season tournament options.

The College Basketball Invitational (CBI) has invited three OVC programs in the event’s 10 year history.

This season programs like Belmont (likely NIT), UT Martin (likely CIT), Morehead State, Tennessee State, Southeast Missouri and Murray State are potential participants.

The CBI fancies itself as a launchpad tournament.  They report which teams make the NCAA Tournament in the year following their bid.  On average 3.25 teams out of 16 participating CBI teams make the NCAA Tournament the next season.
